A new program for advanced materials and processing was announced in the president's 1993 budget. Also included was an increase in funds for the Department of Commerce's Technology Administration.
The Advanced Materials & Processing Program (AMPP) will take advantage of opportunities in materials R&D, to meet national goals and extend U.S. leadership in materials science and engineering. Proposed funding for the program is $1.8 billion, an increase of 10% over the 1992 budget for similar programs.
