FED:Abbott backs Afghanistan mission=2

Mr Abbott supports a parliamentary debate on Australia's mission in Afghanistan.

"I don't think it would hurt to debate this issue," he said, noting the commitment
to the war was "important".

"We don't lightly put the lives of Australian personnel on the line ... and I'm happy
to see a parliamentary debate about it."
