ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. (Con-Way) today announced it is a recipient of the prestigious CIO-100 award from IDG's CIO magazine. The 2002 CIO-100 award recognizes organizations around the world that excel in positive business performance through integrated processes and technologies.
Con-Way was recognized for three information technology initiatives. The first was the creation of a data warehouse that brought together enterprise- wide customer business activity data for a view of all activity across multiple business units. The second initiative was a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application, which will manage customer interactions and maintain extensive customer contact, competitive analysis and business potential information. The third initiative was the deployment of a portal front-end that served as an access point for applications and greatly improved the speed at which Con-Way personnel could access critical data.
"Recognition by CIO of these three initiatives is very gratifying and well deserved by the development teams. The ease of access to information, its visibility and application within Con-Way and by our customers will continue to be a top priority as we roll out new information and ebusiness initiatives over the next several years," said Jacquelyn Barretta, vice president, information services for Con-Way.
Con-Way is among 100 companies that demonstrated integrated technologies and procedures to improve products, services and relationships with business partners and clients. "Now, more than ever, companies rely on integrated applications that freely share information," said Abbie Lundberg, editor in chief, CIO magazine. "This year's CIO-100 award recipients are being honored because their companies developed an integrated enterprise to enhance their business, from improving relationships with customers to creating a seamless value chain."
